MORE DRUNK DRIVERS REMOVED FROM NORTH COUNTRY HIGHWAYS

A couple of drunk drivers are no longer on the roads here in the North Country. On Monday just before 3am, State Police pulled over a car on Saranac Avenue in the town of North Elba for failure to keep right. The driver, 56 year old Scott Monroe of Brasher Falls, was arrested when his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.14%. Monroe was charged with DWI; failure to keep right; and driving across hazard markings. He was released with tickets returnable to the Town of North Elba Court.

On Monday night just before 11, State Police responded to a call about a car that had crashed into a guide rail on State Route 58 in the town of Gouverneur. Troopers say 27 year old Elizabeth Whalen of Morristown, had driven off the west shoulder of the road… slamming into the guide rail. Whalen was not injured, but she was placed under arrest after her blood alcohol content was determined to be .22%. Whalen was charged with Aggravated DWI and driving across hazard markings. She was released with tickets all returnable to the Town of Gouverneur Court.
