TV Station Sold

A change in ownership for a large North Country media outlet. WWNY-TV7 has been sold by United Communications Corporation of Kenosha, Wisconsin, to Gray Television, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia. The deal was announced on Friday. Gray is a publicly traded company. In the deal, it acquired WWNY-TV7, along with a television station in Mankato, Minnesot, for $45 million. The deal also includes WNYF-TV Fox 28. Gray Television released a statement saying they anticipate closing on the transaction in the second quarter of 2019 pending regulatory approval. The Brown family… owners of United… have owned WWNY since 1981. The Brown family has also divested it’s other media businesses, and is selling it’s newspaper holdings too. Gray released a statement, saying they are excited to be taking these stations to the next level and they plan on doing the best they can to continue serving their communities.
