WHITNEY PARK ON THE MARKET – ASKING PRICE, $180 MILLION

A historic estate near Long Lake has been put on the market for sale… at a price of $180 million. The Wall Street Journal reports that Whitney Park… a 36,000-acre property… is being sold by John Hendrickson, the widower of philanthropist, socialite and thoroughbred racing owner Marylou Whitney. Hendrickson inherited the estate after Whitney’s death last year. Whitney Park has 80 miles of roads, 22 lakes, a timber operation, a trapper’s cabin from the 1800s and an Adirondack great camp named “Deerlands” which has 17 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. Marylou Whitney inherited the property after her previous husband Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney died in 1992.
