It really comes as no surprise, but now it is official. Governor Cuomo on Thursday, said that summer school will not offer in-class learning this summer in New York, and will be conducted entirely online. Meals and child care for so-called “essential workers” will continue. The governor yesterday, also extended the state sales tax filing deadline another month, to June 22nd. The decision was made after medical experts summoned by the governor, say at least 157 New York children suffer from COVID-19 complications with symptoms similar to severe illnesses such as Kawasaki disease and toxic shock syndrome. The state has still not released guidance about summer camps, although they say they are reviewing it, and will announce a decision by early June.
