The Elm Street office of Community Bank in the village of Malone will close on April 3rd. Community Bank’s other location in Malone… on West Main Street, and less than a half mile away… will remain open. According to a release by Hal Wentworth, the bank’s Senior Vice President for Retail Banking, the drive-up window at the Elm street location will remain open six days a week, from 8:30am to 4pm Mondays through Thursdays, 8:30am to 5pm on Fridays, and from 9 to noon on Saturdays. It is only the inside offices and the lobby that are being shut down for good a Elm Street. Wentworth also said that the closing will not mean any job losses. All employees affected will have the opportunity to transfer to other area Community Bank branch locations. Those other locations here in the North Country include Chateaugay, Fort Covington, St. Regis Falls, Massena, Norwood, Potsdam, Canton and Plattsburgh. It was just 6 years ago when the Brushton branch was also shuttered and at that time, it was folded into the operations at Elm Street. Anyone with questions about all of this is invited to stop in the bank or call the Elm Street branch at 518-483-3400.
