PUBLIC HEARING SET FOR JANUARY ON WIND TURBINES IN CHATEAUGAY

Residents of Chateaugay will soon have a chance to speak out on proposed changes to the town’s laws governing wind power development. The Chateaugay Town Board has scheduled a public hearing on possible amendments for January 27th at 6. The main issue at hand is the proposal to change the maximum height of wind turbines in Chateaugay… along with changes in the setback rules. Current town law says towers cannot exceed 500 feet. The developer of the wind farm… Renewable Energy Systems… want to see that limit extened to 750 feet. The noise level is another topic to be discussed. We will have more details on the public hearing, including the exact location…. as they are made available. Stay tuned!
