New York Lawmakers Considering Banning Menthol Cigarettes

Vaping of nicotine and marijuana by teens in New York State continues to increase, so now state lawmakers are trying to come up with bills to address not only the vaping epidemic… but cigarette smoking as well. In fact, some Democratic state senators are also trying to come up with a permanent ban on menthol cigarettes… saying the “menthol loophole” as they call it, needs to be shut in order to stop the tobacco industry from targeting youth. State Senator Brad Hoylman of Manhattan, now says he plans to push for a statewide ban on menthol cigarettesb to dissuade young people from picking up e-cigarettes or menthol cigarettes. All this comes on the heels of a 90-day ban by the Cuomo administration less than a month ago, on the sale and distribution of all vaping flavors except tobacco and menthol.
