Cornwall Concerns Over Lead Unfounded

Despite some concerns about it, Cornwall tap water is apparently a low risk for lead exposure. A year-long investigation however, has found thousands of Canadians in some areas might unknowingly be using tap water containing higher-than-recommended levels of lead. But sampling has shown that the threat from the drinking water in Cornwall is minimal. One big reason… all of the city owned water pipes were changed to lead-free pipes years ago. But city officials admit, they have no way of determining if a private residence‚Äôs water supply might contain a higher-than-recommended amount of lead, because they have no way of knowing what kind of pipes may be in any given home, and they can’t just force people to hand over a water sample.
