The launch of a bicycle ferry between Prescott, Ontario and Ogdensburg, New York has been put on hold for another year. Ogdensburg City Manager Sarah Purdy admitted that everyone involved may have been a bit overly optomistic when it all first was announced. She says they need more time to get it accomplished, but it will be up and running next year. Original plans had called for four round trips on Saturday and Sunday and one or two round trips on Friday, using a boat that would hold 12 passengers and their bicycles. Purdy said they simply underestimated how much time it was going to take, but initial concerns about getting customs clearance have been worked out. Now, everyone involved feels that delaying the whole thing until next year will allow for better preparation. They will also have more time now to properly market it.
