Paul Smith’s College expands sustainability efforts

Paul Smith’s College is expanding its sustainability programs. They’ve recently jointed the “Feel Good Heat Initiative,” which calls for the school to use whole-building, integrated wood pellet boiler systems to replace oil or propane. The wood pellets would feed automatically. The college has also agreed to become one of the first customers for Northern Power and Light, a Saranac Lake-based power company that has a hydroelectric dam in St. Regis Falls. Any electricity generated from the dam will be turned into a credit on their power bills. Paul Smiths is trying to become carbon neutral by 2029.
